Here is the famous Sombrero Galaxy (also known as M104). This galaxy was discovered in 1781 and has been a favorite for generations. It is a great example of a "lens-shaped" galaxy and has a dense accretion disc that is beautifully silhouetted by over 400 billion stars.
I captured the light of these 400 billion suns at the recent TSP.

Bob-san! Thanks for the comment! I don't get many comments at all, but I guess folks stop by anyway because the hit meter keeps going up (or maybe that's just me).
My comments have vanished too, then again I am not as a studious blogger as I once was. I think it's the trend thing. "Blogger" is supposed to be so uncool. Now the "cool" thing is Facebook which has and continues to explode.
